This action separates the plasma rich in nutrients from the red blood cells. The platelet-rich plasma, containing platelets that play a vital role in clotting and healing soft tissue, is then re-injected into specific areas of the genital region, such as the clitoris and upper vaginal tissue. Avoid vigorous physical activity or any large intakes of alcohol for 24 hours as this increases the risk of bruising. It’s common to experience mild to moderate swelling in the treated area, accompanied by redness or a warm sensation. These are typical side effects and are part of the platelet activation process. Swelling is unavoidable due to the administered fluid volume. Bruising may occur and can take several days to diminish, leaving the treatment area feeling tender to the touch. It’s recommended to avoid strenuous physical activity, sexual intercourse, and tampon use for at least 24 to 48 hours after the treatment. Patients may resume sexual intercourse 24 to 48 hours after their procedure. This helps minimise the risk of infection. Many women describe a “full” feeling in the vaginal area which can last up to 48 hours and may make sexual intercourse uncomfortable.
Results from this procedure are not permanent but can last up to about three years. It is recommended that patients undergo maintenance treatments every 18 months or so to ensure longevity.
