A medical peel is a skin-resurfacing treatment to remove dead skin cells, uncovering a “new” layer of skin that appears smoother and more vibrant.
They are applied carefully to your face in order to remove the top, old layer of rough skin from your face. After the peel, we apply special skin hydrating and nourishing ingredients that are readily absorbed because of the removal of this top layer.
This also stimulates collagen production (the material that makes your skin soft and supple), so that over time, your skin can appear more bright, radiant, softer and smoother.*
Frequently Asked Questions
The procedure only takes 10-15 minutes and is commonly known as the ‘lunchtime peel’ because of this.
We will prepare your face by thoroughly cleaning to remove any impurities from the surface of your skin. The medical peel is then carefully applied. The amount that the peel is kept on the face is timed carefully by the practitioner depending on your skin type and previous experience with peels.
The peel is then removed using a special neutraliser. This leaves your pores open allowing your skin to readily absorb special hydrating and rejuvenating creams that we will apply to finish the peel.
No! We usually start off with a low strength peel in order to assess your skin tolerance to the peel. You will feel a very slight tingling/burning feel when the peel is applied but this is not uncomfortable at all. Once the peel is removed the burning feel will subside.
This is a common misconception. When done carefully and properly there is minimal chance of any side effects such as these. We will run through all of these in detail during the first consult.
Medical peels usually work best when done as a ‘course’.* In other words, it is ideal to get a peel done every 4 weeks, while following the skin care regime suggested by Dr Sharma for optimal results.
Peels are $100 per peel and we offer discounts if you book 3 or more.
