Chemical Peels

A medical peel is a skin-resurfacing treatment to remove dead skin cells, uncovering a “new” layer of skin that appears smoother and more vibrant.

They are applied carefully to your face in order to remove the top, old layer of rough skin from your face. After the peel, we apply special skin hydrating and nourishing ingredients that are readily absorbed because of the removal of this top layer.

This also stimulates collagen production (the material that makes your skin soft and supple), so that over time, your skin can appear more bright, radiant, softer and smoother.*

The type of peel that is applied is determined on a thorough skin assessment conducted by our therapist. These can include:

Mesoestetic Peels

Gylcolic peel – Illuminating Peel

Glycolic acid is one of the most frequently used Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA). It is highly efficient for controlling and reactivating cell synthesis processes. It encourages cellular regeneration and is therefore brilliant for slowing down ageing in the skin and regenerating cells in the skin. Even though it is an acid base, peels are very beneficial for adding moisture in the skin and gives the skin a lovely plumping effect. There is a range of percentages, so we always tailor your peel each time you visit the clinic.

Lactic Peel- Rejuvenation peel

Lactic acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that stimulates the production of collagen, natural moisturising factors and supports the integrity of the dermal layer. An amazing treatment for skin ageing, expression lines and superficial wrinkles. The acid helps brighten dull skin. This peel is suitable for sensitive, dry and thinning skin

Piruvex Peel-Retexturing Dermal Peel

This acid is naturally found in apples and vinegar. This acid has a small molecular size which enables easy penetration into the skin. This peel provides a beautiful treatment for aged skins, improves the appearance of acne scarring, actinic keratosis and alterations in skin texture.

Jessner Peel

Jesner Peel is great for treating and maintaining the overall appearance of sun damaged, aged, and acne prone skin. Frequent Jessner treatments (4-6 weekly) help to lighten hyper pigmentation, reduce fine lines, wrinkles and scarring.

This peel contains lactic acidosis, salicylic acid and resorcinol which are great for giving your skin that youthful glow.

Mandelic Peel

Mandelic Peels are for those who suffer from congested or problematic skin.

It works by gently exfoliating the skin which then penetrates deep into the stratum corneum creating new cell turnover. Mandelic Acid is a superficial peel that is powerful yet gentle to the dermis.

This peel can be applied every 2-4 weeks for optimum results. A prior consultation with the therapist is recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

The treatment time is 30 minutes. This includes check-in, skin preparation and the application of the peel. After the peel is removed, the therapist will apply hydrating ingredients to help heal the skin.

We will prepare your face by thoroughly cleaning to remove any impurities from the surface of your skin. The medical peel is then carefully applied. The amount that the peel is kept on the face is timed carefully by the practitioner depending on your skin type and previous experience with peels.

The peel is then removed using a special neutraliser. This leaves your pores open allowing your skin to readily absorb special hydrating and rejuvenating creams that we will apply to finish the peel.

No! We usually start off with a low strength peel in order to assess your skin tolerance to the peel. You will feel a very slight tingling/burning feel when the peel is applied but this is not uncomfortable at all. Once the peel is removed the burning feel will subside.

This is a common misconception. When done carefully and properly there is minimal chance of any side effects such as these. We will run through all of these in detail during the first consult.
